About Sophie
The unplanned expatriate blogger behind Meadow Nimbus Forest

Hello, I am Sophie
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term contract gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Began
Moving to Netherlands wasn't in the plans for the long term. Like many international moves, it started as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something much bigger.
The early months were demanding — fresh systems, new routines, shifting expectations. Routine tasks seemed tougher than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was cultural shock, uncertainty, and plenty of learning by doing. Yet gradually, habits formed. We found places that fit us, met other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Created Meadow Nimbus Forest
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation advice or surface-level tourism content. The missing piece was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Netherlands.
What This Site Does (And Does Not)
This site IS:
- Hands-on experience from living in Netherlands
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever there’s a genuine change
This site isn't:
- An official tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- An ordinary travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Netherlands continues, and the learning journey goes on. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue documenting our discoveries.
If you have questions about family life in Amsterdam or anywhere in Netherlands, feel free to contact me.
Best regards,
Sophie
